Willow Point and Campbellton are inside the city. Quadra Island is Electoral Area C, Oyster River is Area D.
Every home without city sewer runs on septic, from Jubilee Parkway to Quadra Island on the far side of the passage. We work on all of them. We tell you which rules apply to your property before we quote it.
How do we quote your job?
We send Island Health your letter of certification within 30 days of finishing, and you cannot use the system until they have it.

We find the tank, open the lids and look at the field. On a new build we log the soil and check where the setbacks put your system.

We tell you what the work is, what it costs, and whether it needs a filing with Island Health. Nothing starts until you say so.

On a new system we file before construction and submit the letter of certification within 30 days. You get the as-built diagram and the maintenance plan.

We start by looking, not by quoting
Most of the systems we work on were in the ground long before we got there. Most homeowners lose the paperwork and bury the lids. You usually only notice a problem when your drains slow down.
So we start by looking. We find the septic tank, get the lids off, and see what is actually installed rather than what somebody remembers being installed. We check the distribution box, the effluent filter and the pump if there is one. Then we tell you what it needs.

How do I know if my house is even on septic?
If your building lacks a city sewer connection, you need a safe way to treat your sewage on site. Your septic tank and drain field do that work for you. We can tell you what you have from one look inside the tank.
Do I call you first, or the city?
Us. As your Authorized Person, we submit your septic filing to Island Health. Your building permit is a separate matter, and it only comes up where a building permit applies.
Will you work on a system you did not install?
Yes, we handle that work regularly. We open up what is already there, look at the tank, the distribution box and the field, and tell you plainly what condition each part is in.
What should I have ready before you come out?
Any paperwork you hold on the system, and any idea at all of where the lids sit. If you cannot find your lids or paperwork, we easily locate and uncover your buried tank for you.

- How much does a new septic system cost in Campbell River?

- Do I need a permit for a septic system in Campbell River?
- You always need an Island Health filing, though some areas require a building permit as well. We file your plans and site layout before we build, then send Island Health your certification letter within 30 days of finishing. You cannot use the system until that letter is in. - What is a ROWP and why does it matter?
- The Sewerage System Regulation recognizes two types of Authorized Persons: ROWPs and registered professionals. We maintain ROWP status with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians Association of BC to design and install Type 1 and Type 2 systems under 9,100 litres per day.
- How much does a septic tank pump-out cost?
- A single-family tank pump-out runs $400 to $750. Cleaning or replacing an effluent filter costs $150 to $300. Locating and uncovering a buried tank runs $150 to $400. We walk your property first before giving you a price, and we clean up before we leave.
- How do I know my septic system is failing?
- Failure usually starts with sinks, showers and tubs draining slowly. If you leave a failing system alone, smelly grey wastewater starts pooling on your lawn. The provincial regulation requires you to fix a failing system right away. Call us as soon as you spot trouble.
- Are you insured?
- Yes. We carry business insurance and a business licence, and we are registered as a ROWP with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians Association of BC. We reply to every inquiry within 24 hours.
